9 Habits for A Happy Home Life

  1. Wake up early. Even when you don’t have to.

  2. Make your bed for a tidy start to your day.

  3. Fuel up with a “real” breakfast.

  4. Wash (+ put away) dishes as soon as you’re done using them.

  5. Carve out a little alone time for yourself.

  6. Lift your spirit and space by buying flowers.

  7. Take a walk to keep your body + mind active.

  8. Read something every day.

  9. Share your home with others.

Pro Tip #1: To carve out time for yourself: If you have Google Assistant, set up your Routines. Select Workday and edit the reminder commands and time for each task. Remember to spread them out and have your speaker loud enough to hear from anywhere in your house. Having a voice reminder will tell your brain that it’s time to do something ie.) “ It’s 2 pm. It’s time to stand up and stretch. And remember to drink a glass of water.”
We’ve been using this amazing tool to keep us on track when working from home.

Pro Tip #2: Time your tasks using the Toggl Track app. We tend to either overestimate or underestimate the time it takes us to do something. This app helps in tracking the time. Simply title your task and press the start button and end it when you’re done. You’ll have a record of how long a task or activity takes so you can properly schedule your day as you incorporate these activities.

Pro Tip #3: Time block and Theme your days. Deep Focus (read/listen to Cal Newport Deep Work) is the key to getting your activities and tasks done. Create a time block for specific tasks ie.) 8 am - 8:30 am Breakfast + Read. 8:35 am - 9 am Journal. Using the Focus To-Do app helps time 25 minutes (The Pomodoro Technique ) of focused uninterrupted time for each task. You can increase this time by increments of 25 minutes when needed. You can Theme your days by naming what you need to work on that day. Ie.) Mondays are for Accounting. Tuesdays are for Marketing. Wednesdays are for Sales etc. This method has revolutionized our day to day by putting in hours of deep work and self-care.
